Ant Colony Optimisation People

Christian Blum  [ Link ]

Christian Blum's practical work is mainly focused on metaheuristic methods to solve combinatorial optimisation problems arising, for example, in telecommunications or in the context of scheduling. On the theoretical side, he is especially interested in improving the understanding of algorithm behaviour. His main contributions are concerning the metaheuristic Ant Colony Optimisation.

Eric Bonabeau  [ Link ]

Eric Bonabeau is the founder and chief scientist of Icosystem Corporation, a Boston-based "idea incubator" that uses computational evolution to invent novel business models, design new products and create new strategies. He has a Ph.D in Theoretical Physics from the University of Paris at Orsay.

Gianni A. Di Caro  [ Link ]

Gianni Di Caro is a postdoctoral researcher at Istituto Dalle Molle di Studi sull'Intelligenza Artificiale (IDSIA) and also the author of AntNet. His scientific interests include:

  • Routing in Telecommunication Networks
  • Mesh and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
  • Swarm Intelligence
  • Ant Colony Optimisation
  • Metaheuristics for Combinatorial Optimisation
  • Autonomous and Swarm Robotics

Marco Dorigo  [ Link ]

Marco Dorigo is the inventor of the Ant Colony Optimisation metaheuristic for combinatorial optimisation problems. He is also a research director of the IRIDIA lab at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

Luca Maria Gambardella  [ Link ]

Luca Gambardella is director at Istituto Dalle Molle di Studi sull'Intelligenza Artificiale (IDSIA), a research institute affiliated with the University of Applied Science of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI). He has invented and developed several Ant Colony Optimisation algorithms that are able to compute best-known solutions for the following benchmark instances:

  • Sequential Ordering Problems (SOP)
  • Vehicle Routing Problems (VRP)
  • Travelling Salesman Problems (TSP)
  • Quadratic Assignment Problems (QAP)
